Travel Tip for this week
You have that business trip coming up and like most you are a procrastinator. Waiting to the last minute is never a good idea. You may forget something, not pack the right outfit for that important meeting your attending, or forget your socks (in my many years as a concierge this was the biggest item forgotten). Suits cases are smaller and overhead bins on the plane keep getting smaller. You want to pack light but also want to look your best.
You arrive at the hotel, you bust out that suit, and let’s says it’s a new black Yves Saint Laurent. Your hair is done, teeth brushed, tie is perfect and you put on the jacket, and white fuzz is all over it. Your lent roller didn’t make it in the suitcase, because let’s face it, we were in a hurry. You aren’t at a hotel with concierge (shame on you) so how will we get what we need to remove the fuzzies? My solution is simple ask the front desk for a shipping sleeve. Most hotels carry these to help with guests shipping parcels. You want to make sure you are asking for the plastic sticky sleeve the label goes in.
Now, place the jacket on a hangar, take your hand and place in the sleeve and peel off the first part and just pat away on the jacket. Once it isn’t sticky anymore, remove the lower half and finish the job. Remove from hand and toss away. It’s just that easy and you didn’t have to run to the drugstore and search for yet another lent roller.
For me, I typically grab a few when I am sending a parcel and slide them in the front pocket of the suitcase, in case of emergencies. I like to maximize the space in my bag and a bulky roller just gets in the way. It’s good to always be prepared for this kinds of things. If you are a frequent traveler or not, it’s good to have some items always in your suitcase. For example, I will always take the hotel plastic laundry bag and place in my bag in the zipper part. I will gather a few and use them for worn clothing. I also keep a small bottle of Laundry detergent, in case of spills and such and the in-house laundry service is closed.
Do you keep any go to items in your suitcase? Any tips or tricks you care to share? Let me know and I will share in a future blog post. Don’t worry I will give you a shout out.
Cheers and Safe Travels,
Jeff
